KARACHI: Nazim visits new Liaquat College building
KARACHI, Oct 3: About 80 percent of the work on the new building of the Government Liaquat College, Malir — being constructed at a cost of Rs19 million — has been completed and the college will be shifted to the new building in 20 days.
City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, on Wednesday inspected the development work of the college building alongwith teachers and students. The EDO’s of the works, education and law departments’ were also present on the occasion.
The Nazim went round to the classrooms, laboratory, auditorium, canteen and the administration block.
He was informed that work on the building was started in 1992, but later, work was stopped and restarted in October 2001 after the city government came into being.
Naimatullah Khan directed that the construction work should be carried out round the clock so that the shifting of the college into this building does not suffer any delay. He said he would again visit the building on Oct 18.
It may be mentioned that the Government Liaquat College is situated in a private building, and the owner had filed suit to have the building vacated. The court, in its decision, directed that after the shifting of the college, the building be handed over to the owner.—APP
