LAHORE, Sept 30: The combined rivers inflow on Monday continued the downwards trend with total supplies dropping down to an abysmal 88,000 cusecs — around 25 per cent of the total requirements of the country which is around 300,000 cusecs.

The drop resultantly caused fall in the level of Tarbela and Mangla dams as 50,300 cusecs additional water was released to meet irrigation requirements downstream.

Tarbela dam on Monday came down to 1,515.50 feet level as water inflow went down to a meagre 46,400 cusecs and the release remained at 80,000 cusecs. The optimum level of Tarbela is 1,550 feet and minimum 1,369 feet.

Similarly, Mangla dam also dropped to 1,195 feet level as river Jhelum supply witnessed further decrease to 15,300 cusecs against the total release of 32,000 cusecs.

According to the computerised calculations made by the meteorological office, both rivers are expected to maintain their below normal flow during the next 24 hours.

River Chenab also dropped further down to 16,600 cusecs and river Kabul went further down to 9,700 cusecs.

According to the barrage report, Jinnah had an inflow of 89,000 and an outflow of 81,000 cusecs, Chashma 82,500 and 53,400, Taunsa 92,000 and 73,600, Guddu 80,400 and 63,100, Sukkur 67,900 and 18,300 and Kotri 18,300 with no outflow.
