No replacement for Aisam

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 29: Aisamul Haq, Pakistan’s star player, has pulled out of the Asian Games on the advice of his doctors.

Aisam had been unfit since last week’s Davis Cup tie against China in Peshawar when he went down with dehydration and cramps. Pakistan won the Asia Oceania Group II final 3-2 to earn promotion to Group I.

Maj Rashid Khan, secretary of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), speaking to Dawn said that a replacement for Aisam could not now be made with the Games having started Sunday.

“We have informed the organisers that Rasheed would be the playing coach now.”

Rashid said that Aisam was expected to be fit for next month’s Asian Championship in Tashkent.
