PML-N suffers setback in NA-112

Published September 30, 2002

SIALKOT, Sept 29: The Christians of Aallo Mahar Sharif village (Daska tehsil) have announced their support for PML-QA candidates in NA-112 and PP-129 and sought protection against the local PML-N leadership.

The Christian community held a joint electoral meeting of PML-QA candidates Umer Nisar Ghuman and Chaudhry Ansar Iqbal Baryar in the village, where no party other than the PML-N had ever been able to hold a meeting due to the influence wielded by the Shah family.

However, the local PML-Q leadership has assured the community that all-out efforts would be made to save it from the clutches of Shahs, who have allegedly made the lives of its members miserable. The Christians work as daily-wage labourers at the brick-kilns of Shahs.

The PML-QA candidates hope to exploit the situation to the fullest against the PML-N candidate for NA-112, Murtaza Amin, who is a nephew of former federal parliamentary secretary Sahibzada Syed Iftikharul Hassan Shah.
