Convincing victory for Karachi Whites
KARACHI, Sept 28: Karachi Whites qualified for the final of the National Junior (Under-19) Grade-I Cricket Championship with an emphatic 207-run victory over Sheikhupura in the semifinal clash at National Stadium here Saturday.
Sheikhupura capitulated for 190 after being set a massive target of 398 with slow left-armer Faraz Ahmed stealing the honours on the third and final day.
Faraz picked up five for 41 in 14.1 overs. Off-spinner Aftab Ahmed chipped in with two for 47 as opener Salman Ali was the only visiting batsman to make a meaningful contribution.
Salman struck eight fours in scoring 51.
Earlier, Karachi Whites declared their second innings at 306 for seven. Faraz Patel remained unbeaten with 52, which included five hits to the fence.
Karachi Whites now meet Lahore Blues in the four day final at Multan from Tuesday.
