NAWABSHAH, Sept 28: The two-member European Union election observers group, comprising Easter Robert Jordan and Manival Sanche, on Saturday met several candidates of various political parties here.
Journalists were not allowed to participate in these meetings.
Later, the PML-Q candidate for NA-213, Syed Zahid Hussain Shah, said that he had informed the EU observors about problems faced by him in the election campaign.
He dispelled the impression regarding creation of a “King’s Party.” However, he said the PPP has become ‘Queen’s Party.’
Zahid Hussain accused the district Nazim of helping the PPP candidates in running their election campaign besides using government funds in this regard.
He said that a circle of voters had been cut from polling station in Khair Shah, which would make it difficult for his voters to reach there.
A polling station, he said, had been relocated from Deh 51 Nusrat in Akram Lashari village and included in the polling station of Gul Hassan Keerio village.
The candidate of the People’s Party Parliamentarians also briefed the EU team about their problems.
Earlier, the European Union observer group held a meeting with District Returning Officer, assistant election commissioner and District Coordination Officer.
Our Larkana Correspondent adds: A two-member delegation of the European Union, election observers group, arrived at Larkana on Saturday.
It comprised of Jesusrranz and Baulhorthing from Netherlands and Belgium.
The team discussed with the district police officer (DPO), Larkana, Abdul Sattar Detho, the over all election situation in the district, with particular reference to the security arrangements.
The DPO briefed the team about the measures so far taken and told that the election activities in the district were going on smoothly.
The team visited a village, Mirpur Bhutto, and talked to Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, the chief of Sindh National Front (SNF), and his son Amir Bakhsh Bhutto, who was contesting from PS-37 (Larkana-III), against Ayaz Soomro of the PPP.
The team met with the SDA backed candidates, Asghar Shah Rashdi, Parvez Paichoho and Ali Hassan Hakiro in a village, Pir jo goth, in the outskirts of Larkana.
The team members also met Haji Altaf Hussain Unnar, the district president of the PML(Q), and Syed Pir Shah.
