Published September 27, 2002

TIMERGARA, Sept 26: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed has said that Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, if voted to power, will implement the recommendations of the Islamic Ideology Council in letter and in spirit.

Qazi, who is the vice-president of the MMA, was speaking at a public meeting in Talash, Lower Dir, on Thursday.

He said that religious parties leaders had provided a joint platform to the nation and now it was people’s responsibility to elect the alliance candidates on Oct 10.

He termed the formation of the MMA a major achievement of the religious organizations and said that the alliance would continue after the elections.

Qazi, who is contesting elections from NA-34 Lower Dir constituency, assured the gathering that the MMA would ensure social and economic justice and get people rid of the US influence.

Expressing concern over the presence of the US and allied forces in Afghanistan, he said that imperialist forces would soon leave Kabul and an Islamic government would be restored there.
