ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the petition of former federal minister Ghulam Akbar Lasi, seeking permission to contest the general election.
His nomination papers had earlier been rejected by the returning officer and the appellate tribunal on the ground that his brother had entered into plea bargain with the National Accountability Bureau.
Mr Lasi’s counsel argued that his client was neither an accused in any case, nor he himself had entered into any plea bargain.
The apex court, which had reserved its judgment on Tuesday, barred Mr Lasi from contesting the elections.
