Former CM allowed to contest election

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Sept 25: The full bench of the Balochistan High Court has allowed former provincial minister Mir Mohabbat Khan Marri to contest the general election from Kohlu and has rejected the petition filed against the acceptance of his nomination papers.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, Justice Nadir Khan Durrani and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani, on Tuesday rejected the constitutional petition filed by Mir Balach Khan Marri, younger son of Nawab Khair Bukhsh Marri, against the decision of the election tribunal in favour of Mohabbat Khan Marri.

Mir Balach challenged the degree of the former provincial minister issued to him by the Punjab University, and alleged that the degree was bogus.

However, the court did not agree with the arguments of the lawyer and dismissed the petition. The court allowed Mohabbat Khan Marri to contest the election in the Kohlu constituency.

Earlier, the full bench also allowed Mir Balach to contest election from the same constituency.
