HYDERABAD, Sept 25: At least a 100 house job doctors including lady doctors staged a protest demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday demanding an increase in their salaries.
Addressing the rally, Dr Shaukat Panhwar, Dr Saifuallah, Dr Hamid Khanzada, and others said that the house job doctors of Sindh were not getting the same salary which was being paid to the doctors in other provinces.
They said that according to the announcement made by President Pervez Musharraf, the salary of grade 17 officers had been fixed at Rs6,210 per month.
They claimed that while the house job doctors of the other three provinces were being paid Rs6,210 per month, the doctors of Sindh were being paid only Rs3,880 per month.
They appealed to President Musharraf and Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro to treat the house job doctors of Sindh at par with the doctors of other provinces.
They warned that if their genuine and legal demand was not accepted, they would go on strike.
ARTISTE’S WIDOW: Sharifan, the widow of folk artiste, Faqir Abdul Ghafoor, her son, Sarwar Ghafoor, and other artists continued their hunger strike outside the press club on Wednesday against the alleged excesses of the deputy director of the Mehran Arts Council.
