KARACHI, Sept 25: The facility for regularizing the illegally-constructed buildings has once again been allowed on the directive of Sindh governor and on the request of owners, allotees, architects and engineers of such buildings.
This was stated by the chief controller of buildings (CCOB), Brig A. S. Nasir (retired), at a news conference on Wednesday.
He said though the government had allowed the owners of all those buildings which were constructed either in violation of approved plans or without getting their plans approved from the KBCA from Dec 2001 to June 30, 2002, the KBCA keeping in view the interest shown by owners of such buildings has now extended the regularization facility till Dec 3, 2002.
The CCOB hoped that people, in general, and the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), in particular, would take advantage of the facility and regularize their illegally- constructed buildings within the new deadline as no unauthorizedly-built construction would be regularized thereafter, instead such buildings would be demolished.
He said a special counter had been set up on the first floor of the KBCA Building where people desiring to get their buildings regularized could submit the prescribed form along with the plans of such buildings till 4pm daily.
With a view to facilitate people, the KBCA has reduced the composition fee by 25 per cent and the heavy penalty amount could be paid in three instalments, the CCOB said, adding that the staff had been directed to remain in their offices till 6pm so that the cases were disposed of expeditiously and decision on plans to be submitted by owners of unauthorizedly-constructed buildings would be taken in 30 days.
About the problems being faced by the industrial areas of Landhi and Korangi, he said the KBCA had deputed its staff in the office of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry for resolving their issues without delay.
