SANGHAR, Sept 24: Hundreds of people protested here on Tuesday against the killing of a police constable, Dadlo Panhwar, and the non-professional attitude of the civil surgeon and MLO of the local civil hospital.
The protestors burnt tyres on Frontier Hotel roundabout and also hurled stones at passing vehicles. They also staged a sit-in outside the local press club and took the constable’s body in a large procession to the civil hospital for post mortem.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of Federation of Trade and Commerce, Sufi Abdul Haq, Abdullah Panhwar, councillor Akram and others deplored the non-professional behaviour of the medical staff at the civil hospital.
They alleged that the medico legal officer refused to perform the autopsy of the policeman’s body.
When they contacted civil surgeon, Dr Mohammad Ali Sarewal, for help, he remained unmoved and the body was kept for more than 10 hours till Tuesday.
Later, on the intervention of the DPO, the post mortem was conducted, alleged the protesters.
The deceased police constable was shot at and injured by some robbers on Sept 12 on Toori Mori road while he resisted motorcycle snatching.
His legs were amputated but he could not survive and died in the civil hospital on Monday.
