KARACHI, Sept 23: The importance and utility of the environment and information technology departments came under discussion at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh chief secretary, K.B. Rind in connection with the restructuring of provincial departments.
The meeting formulated recommendations which will be finally approved by the NRB after their formal approval by the Sindh governor for the establishment of new departments.
The meeting discussed the two departments as separate entities as well as their working after merger with other departments.
The chief secretary directed additional secretary Shahzado Shaikh to arrange a briefing with regard to restructuring of the departments for the governor at a cabinet meeting so that steps could be taken and headway made for making the environment and IT departments functional.
The meeting was attended by secretary Fazlur Rehman, Masood Ahmed Mahsood, Imtiaz Kazi, Nisar Ahmed Siddiqi, Shamsul Huq Memon, Aslam Sanjrani and others.
SESSI SERVICES: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind has called for improving the quality of services being provided under the social security scheme to the industrial workers.
Speaking at a presentation at SESSI head office on Mon-day, Mr Rind emphasized improvement in level of benefits and enhancing the medical care.
He desired to bring more workforce in the net of social security and subscribing to government hospitals facilities also where needed.
Earlier, commissioner SESSI Ameer Ali Burq said the institution was working on a crash programme of improvement for the last six months.
He said there had been a record increase in social security contribution of Rs44.989 million against the target for the year 2001-02 and surplus of Rs87.579 million over the last year. — APP/PPI
