HPS win Sindh swimming title

KARACHI, Sept 22: Habib Public School (HPS) accumulated 299 points to clinch Sindh swimming championships which concluded Sunday at Karachi Gymkhana.

Karachi Grammar School (KGS) with 125 points finished as runners-up, Karachi Club and Karachi Gymkhana were declared joint third with 87 points each.

Jawwad Kamani of HPS who added another three golds to his yesterday’s haul was declared the best swimmer with eight golds.

Karachi Gymkhana’s Suleman Shishmahal also won three gold.

Two new records were broken by Owais Ali Qarni Quettawala in 25m freestyle by clocking 16.39 seconds and Jawwad Kamani in 200m backstroke (2:56.24 seconds).

Owais with 21 points from Karachi Gymkhana was judged the group champion in Under-10 category. In Under-12 HPS’s Hassan Youshe Murad collected 29 points was adjudged the group champion, Jawwad Kamani with 44 points in Under-15.

Suleman Shishmahal amassed 24 points to be declared as group champions in the Under-18. Javed Taqi (31 points) became the group champion in the Open category.

Haris Bin Jabbar of HPS was declared fastest swimmer of the event after winning 50m freestyle on the opening day by clocking 27.17 seconds.—APP
