Six players leave for Colombo tomorrow

LAHORE, Sept 22: Six players selected for the Test series against Australia will leave Tuesday for Colombo to join the Pakistan squad there.

Saqlain Mushtaq will arrive in the Sri Lankan capital directly from London.

Imran Farhat, Faisal Iqbal, Hasan Raza, Danish Kaneria, Taufiq Umar and Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan along with the newly-appointed coach Richard Pybus will join the rest of the squad.  

Pakistan will prepare for the Tests with a three-day practice match against West Indies from Wednesday.

Pacer Mohammad Zahid, also named in the 16-member Test squad, will proceed to Colombo if he is able to prove his fitness test during the second four-day match against Sri Lanka ‘A’ starting at Multan Stadium from Monday.

The first Test of three-match series starts in Colombo, from Oct 3 while Sharjah will stage the remaining Tests from Oct 11 and 19 respectively.
