PESHAWAR, Sept 22: Jamaat-i-Islami Amir and leader of Muttahida  Majlis-i-Amal, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, has appealed  to  the people to bring unity in their ranks against the forces which are posing a threat to the country’s solidarity.

Speaking at election meetings at Pir Pai and Tordher here  on  Sunday,  he  urged  the  people  to  elect  only  those candidates who could ensure the  safety of the country and free it from the influence of western hold.

He  said all the religious parties have gathered  on  one platform  for the development and solidarity of the  country.  He lashed out at the government for its pro-American stance.

Criticising western propaganda against the Madaris, he said, if the government had remained neutral in war against Afghanistan the US and its allies would not dare to castigate Madaris.

He  said owing to the corrupt leaders clinging to  the  power, the  country  had  become bankrupt. Now it was the  duty  of  the people to decide about the fate of the country in the  elections, he  added.

He  underlined  the need for sending  honest people  to the elected forums in the future.
