Dist Nazim criticizes DPO’s performance

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Sept 19:The district Nazim on Thursday asked the IGP Sindh to issue stern warning to the DPO of Khairpur in view of the deteriorating law and order in the district.

The Nazim, Nafisa Shah, took serious notice of the rising incidence of crime, saying four persons had been kidnapped during the past four days.

She said that the relatives of the kidnapped persons, despite their best efforts, had been unable to even register FIRs of the crimes.

She said she visited Kot Mir Mohammad area on Thursday afternoon and met the relatives of Imdad Ali Abbasi, Mohammad Suhail Abbasi and Ghous Bux Abbasi, who were kidnapped two days ago. She also met with the relatives of Ghulam Shabbir, a telephone operator, who was kidnapped from the same area. She said the inaction of police in the matter annoyed her.

She later asked DSP Atta Mohammad Rajper, who accompanied her during her visit to the village, to register FIRs and called for immediate recovery of all the four kidnapped persons.

Nafisa Shah criticised the DPO, saying the DPO failed to provide her information about the crime happening in his jurisdiction. She praised the print media for keeping her well informed about the crime scene in the district.

She also complained about the health department’s performance, saying it had failed to report to her about the occurrence of five polio cases in the district despite a concert ed vaccination campaign to eradicate the disease.
