Youhana also out of Aussie Test series
KARACHI, Sept 17: Pakistan batsman Yousaf Youhana has been ruled out of next month’s Test series against Australia with a shoulder injury, a spokesman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Tuesday.
“Doctors carried out a bone scan on Youhana’s shoulder today in Kandy and it was confirmed he would not be able to play the test series,” the spokesman said.
“Youhana will not be considered because doctors have advised him to take four to six weeks rest.”
Youhana is the fourth senior member of the crisis-hit Pakistan side to be ruled out of the Tests.
Wasim Akram and Saeed Anwar have opted out of the series while Inzamam-ul-Haq has been advised to rest to recover from a foot injury.
Youhana has been carrying the shoulder injury for the last two months.
He was sent back to Pakistan from Nairobi last month on disciplinary grounds, but played in Pakistan’s defeat by Sri Lanka .
“Obviously the selectors would now consider a replacement for Youhana before the Test series, which is very important to us,” the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the PCB said it was unconcerned about an investigation by the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) into the opening Champions Trophy game.
“We have no reasons for concern unless the ACU actions were directed at just one match or team,” the spokesman said.
“But the ICC has clarified today that the ACU would be looking at tapes of all matches in the tournament in order to provide all players and teams with an effective anti-corruption infrastructure,” he added.
The spokesman said neither the ICC nor the ACU had made any contact with the PCB regarding the match or asked for any information.
Former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad lashed out at attempts to cast doubt on every match the national team loses.
“I am very angry with this latest incident where there have been media speculations about the result of the Pakistan and Sri Lanka match,” Miandad said.—Reuters
