Headmaster dies of burns

LAHORE, Sept 17: A school headmaster who was set afire allegedly by his watchman on Multan Road on Monday died at Mayo Hospital.

Dr Javed Iqbal of the Government Islamia High School, Multan Road, was reportedly present at his office when his watchman Khalil torched him after sprinkling petrol on him.

Dr Javed’s father Muhammad Iqbal claimed that his son was holding corruption inquiries against some govt officials. “They had hired Khalil to kill Dr Javed,” Iqbal said.

Quoting accused Khalil, the Nawankot police said that he had killed Dr Javed for holding theft inquiry against him. —Reporter
