ATTOCK, Sept 16: A prosecution witness presented documentary evidence against former senator Asif Ali Zardari before an accountability Court here on Monday.

The evidence comprised documents obtained by NAB through Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) arrangement. It is for the first time in the legal history that NAB obtained documentary evidence against any accused from England and Switzerland. These documents have been provided to Pakistan under the MLA by the courts of England and Switzerland. These documents relate to transactions in Swiss bank accounts, off-shore companies accounts and Rockwood Estate in Surrey.

The court, set up in Attock Fort, was presided over by Judge Chaudhry Mazhar Hussain Minhas. The former senator and spouse of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was brought to the Attock Fort amid tight security in an ambulance from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), Islamabad. NAB also brought a huge trunk loaded with documentary evidence in a van to the accountability court.—APP
