PML-QA adjustment with Rashid?

Published September 17, 2002

LAHORE, Sept 16: The PML-QA claimed on Monday that it had made electoral adjustment with a dissident PML-N leader Shaikh Rashid Ahmad.

According to a final list of candidates released by the PML-QA, it has made adjustment with the former federal minister on NA-55, Rawalpindi.

However, Shaikh Rashid refuted the claim, saying he had neither been approached by the PML-QA nor was he in contact with the party.

According to him, the PML-QA had not put up any candidate against him on NA-55 because it did not have one. On NA-56, the second seat Mr Shaikh is contesting, Mrs Nilofer Bakhtiar is the PML-QA candidate.

Once a blue-eyed boy of Nawaz Sharif, Shaikh Rashid lost interest in party activities after the banishment of the Sharifs. The party also changed its mind about him and ignored him.

He neither applied for a ticket nor was granted one. He is contesting on two NA seats as an independent candidate.
