KARACHI, Sept 16: The Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations, Major-General Rashid Qureshi, has said Al Qaeda elements are on the run which shows that the backbone of this terrorist network has been broken.

At the inauguration of a five-day International Defence Exhibition here on Monday evening, he said terrorists, including two high-profile ones of the Al Qaeda arrested in Karachi on Wednesday last, were being jointly interrogated by the ISI and the American FBI.

Answering a question about the gathering of terrorists in Pakistan, the DG ISPR said there might be such elements who might have selected big cities like Karachi, “but we have made progress in tracking them down.”

About the situation on Pakistan-India border, he said the tension had reduced. However, the threat against Pakistan was still there as India had not withdrawn its troops to peacetime locations.—PPI
