Adeel wins gold for Pakistan


LAHORE, Sept 14: Pakistan claimed its first-ever gold in the world junior powerlifting championship through Adeel Rana at Sochi, said a facsimile message received here from Russia.

Adeel lifted 270.0 kgs in deadlift in the 67.5kgs, showing excellent lifting abilities amid competitors from 27 countries.

“It is the first-ever gold in such a prestigious event and we are extremely happy for getting such a big honour,” said secretary of the Pakistan Powerlifting Federation, Mohammad Rashid Malik, who has accompanied the four-member team as a technical official said in the message.

PPF is hoping for another gold from Mohammad Imran Khalid also from Wapda who is competing in 100.0kgs category which will start tomorrow.—APP
