KARACHI, Sept 14: The traffic police have made alternative arrangements in connection with the IDEAS-2002 seminar and defence exhibition, which opens here on Monday and will continue till Sept 19.
According to the traffic police, some roads will remain closed for traffic for certain period in view of security, and people have been asked to cooperate with the traffic police.
The roads to be closed for some time and the roads to be used as alternative routes are as follows:
In connection with the IDEAS-2002 seminar being held in the Sheraton Hotel on Sept 16, the Club Road will remain open for one-way traffic from the Sindh Club chowk to the Pear Continental Hotel (PIDC Chowk) from 9am to 4pm. However, all loading vehicles and public transport will not be allowed to use the road.
The defence exhibition will be held at the Expo Centre Monday at 6pm. On that day two roads, Habib Ebrahim Rehmatullah Road from the Karsaz signal Sharea Faisal to Stadium Crossing and Sir Suleman Shah Road from Hasan Square to Stadium Crossing, will be closed from 6.30pm to 7.15pm and again from 9pm to 10pm.
The traffic on Pir Sibghatullah Shah Pir Pagara Road will not be allowed to enter either onto Sir Shah Suleman Road or Habib Ebrahim Rehmatullah Road.
The traffic coming from Mashriq Centre and its surroundings and the traffic coming from Hasan Square to Stadium Road could use (1) Civic Centre link road, (2) KDA police station link road and (3) Busy Bee Restaurant link road as alternative routes. However, traffic will continue to flow on University Road.
On Sept 17, a ceremony will be held at the Governor’s House and in that connection traffic will remain closed from 6pm to 10pm on Aiwan-i-Saddar Road from Khajoor Road to Fountain Chowk.
The traffic coming and going to Dr Baqauddin Ahmed Road would not be allowed turn to Aiwan-i-Saddar Road. Similarly the traffic from Abdullah Haroon Road will not be allowed to turn to Aiwan-i-Saddar Road and could use Club Road and Hoshang Road as alternative routes.
However, vehicles with red stickers would be allowed to use Aiwan-i- Saddar Road while those with blue stickers would use Din Mohammed Wafai Road with parking of vehicles on the YMCA ground.
On Sept 19, a ceremony will be held at the Golf Club and in this connection the flow of traffic from Khayaban-i-Ittehad towards Zulfiqar Street will not be allowed. Only vehicles with red stickers could use this road and will park inside the Golf Club.
The vehicles with blue stickers would move to the Golf Club by using Khayaban-i-Shaheen and will be parked on the Early Learning Centre’s ground and on the parking lot of Khayaban-i-Shaheen from where the guests will be taken to the Golf club through shuttle service. —APP
