MMA candidates in Bahawalnagar

BAHAWALNAGAR, Sept 13: The MMA has finalized its candidates in the district.

Talking to reporters, Maulana Bashir Shad of the MMA said the alliance was contesting on two NA and five PA seats as well as one NA seat reserved for women in the district.

Professor Moinuddin Watto will be in the run for NA-188, Mian Alam Lalika for NA-190, Allama Mohammad Rafiq for PP-277, Khalid Mehmood Watto for PP-278, Maulana Yousaf Qureshi for PP-279, Ghulam Ullah Joya for PP-280 and Qari Hussein Ahmed Shad for PP-281. Amarah Tariq Watto is the MMA candidate for the reserved NA seat.

Meanwhile, 2,371 polling booths and 940 stations have been set up in the district for the upcoming elections. As many as 105 polling stations will be for men, 105 for women and 730 for both sexes while out of the total number of polling booths, 1,400 will be for men and 971 for women. There are 1,146,222 registered voters in the district. However, the ratio of cast votes has never been more than 43 per cent. Seventy-eight per cent voters belong to rural areas.
