Aisam should be disciplined, says Khan

By Ashfaq Yusufzai

PESHAWAR, Sept 12: Taking exception to the allegations of  Aisam-ul-Haq, President NWFP Tennis Association (NWFPTA), Abdul Samad Khan has asked the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) to initiate disciplinary action against the national champion for his irresponsible remarks published Thursday.

Talking to Dawn, Khan set aside the impression that no player belonged to Peshawar as alleged by Mr Haq, saying that Shahid  Afridi, Inam Gul and Shehzad Samad belonged to the  NWFP.

He said it was the decision of PTF to hold the Davis Cup finals in Peshawar and the players should concentrate on the game and not indulge in administrative  affairs.

Khan claimed that it was on the insistence of  the players that Peshawar was selected as the venue because the courts in Lahore and other cities were not as good as that of Peshawar.

The players who are in training camp here were being extended enhanced facilities and were quite happy with the conditions here and there were no complaints from them whatsoever.

About the team, he said the  best possible squad was selected whereas Shehzad Samad and Ahmad Wala had been retained as reserved players.
