KARACHI: Public library in Lyari

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 10: A community hall, a public library, and a computer lab have been established in Khadda by a local NGO, particularly for children of fishermen.

Housed in a newly-constructed building of a local NGO, Azad Muslim Anjuman, the library and other facilities have been set up with the financial assistance of local philanthropists.

The AMA was founded in the pre-independence days and it hosted Muslim League leaders in the past. The library was formally inaugurated by the Chairman of Fishermen Cooperative Society, Syed Tayyab Naqvi. On this occasion, the FCS chairman provided a computer set, 60 fans and 60 tubelights for the community hall on behalf of the society.

A special event was also organized in which monetary help was provided to eight fishermen families for marriages expenses of their daughters.

The FCS chairman said that the society would continue to undertake welfare projects in fishermen’s villages of Sindh to contribute to the development of fishermen.
