Drugs seized, two held

HUB, Sept 6: Two smugglers were arrested by customs authorities near Gaddani on Friday and narcotics were seized from them.

According to sources, a truck (LS-9360) headed to Karachi from Afghanistan was intercepted at Karkera checkpoint near Gaddani on the basis of a tip-off. During search about 480kg charas and 10kg opium was seized from the truck.

The authorities two of the smugglers, impound the truck and registered a case against them.

SENTENCED: Lasbela District and Session Judge Mohammed Iqbal Shahwani on Friday sentenced four persons, including a woman, to imprisonment and fine after they were found guilty of possessing narcotics.

The judge sentenced Lal Bibi to four years imprisonment and a fine of Rs15,000 for possessing 3.5kg of charas.

The court also sentenced Essa, Noor Mohammed and Mohammed Ejaz to five years imprisonment and fined them Rs25,000 each for possessing charas.
