ISLAMABAD, Sept 4: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration have decided to conduct another operation in the current week to resume development work in Sector D-12, sources told Dawn here on Wednesday.
The decision was taken at the second consecutive meeting which was presided over by the chief commissioner and CDA chairman, Mir Laiq Shah.
The sources said the chief commissioner asked the deputy commissioner and SSP to take measures so that development work in the sector could be resumed.
“These officials have been directed to arrange meetings with the representatives of Sri Saral and Pind Sangrial villages to settle the issue,” the sources said.
The meeting was informed that a team of ICT administration had visited the site on Wednesday and observed that the development work could only be started from the place where the clash had occurred on July 28, as there was no other access to the sector.
The CDA chairman told the meeting that the Authority had paid all the dues of the villagers and no more compensation would be given to them.
He said the development work would be restarted during this week and no one would be allowed to create any disturbance.
However, it is learnt that the Authority has decided to use full force with the assistance of police and administration to avoid any resistance from the villagers side.
“Moreover, the CDA chairman has asked the deputy commissioner and SSP to hold a last meeting with the villagers.”
A source said the interior ministry had directed the CDA to immediately restart the development work.
One of the CDA board members confirmed about another operation.
On the other hand, some villagers said they would not allow the CDA to conduct another operation.
