DILLAGI fancied for feature race

LAHORE, Sept 3: Seven-year-old bay mare Dillagi is fancied to make amends by going all out to win the feature event of the Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse Wednesday.

A mediocre card of only five events will be decided during the mid-week gymkhana races. All events are to be contested over the sprinting distance of 900 metres. In all, 48 runners will be vying for supremacy.

Dillagi is contesting in the fifth and last race of the day, the Sahiwal Plate class VII division V to be participated by ten runners barring last-minute withdrawals.

A progeny of Eighth Wonder-out-of-Noor Nishan, Dillagi has already won two races in-a-row on July 10 and August 7 and was placed second on August 21 last. She is in good form to click, if sent with a will to do so.

Among her rivals Aao Payar Se, Khan Bahadur and Bach View are prominent but have shown no form yet. The other seven runners have yet to prove their worth on the course.

In the fourth and supporting event, bay gelding Jonty Road looks well-placed in the handicap to win again. The gelding has already won two races consecutively on August 21 and August 28 and will be attempting for a hat-trick this time. He should be followed by Mr Bond, Blue Champion and Diva.

The third event has only eight probable runners. Of them three looks in with a chance, and should battle for the top honours. They are: Fiji, Sun Of Gold and Golden Voice.

First race will be held at 3 pm.
