Sikander smashes three more records

LAHORE, Sept 3: Lahore with 326 points won the overall trophy of the Punjab Inter-district swimming championship which concluded at the Agricultural University pool, Faisalabad, as more results were received Tuesday.

Faisalabad with 201 points earned runners-up position while Jhang (95) and Bahawalpur (71) took the third and fourth position, respectively.

Out of a of total 34 districts of the province only four took part in the two-day event.

Sikandar Khan of Lahore who shattered two records on first day, in the under-15 age group, broke three more records and was declared the best swimmer of the competition.

The contests were held in Under-10, U-12, U-15 and U-18 Age Groups. The host Faisalabad could won the only Under-12 age group competition with 62 points. In all other events, Lahore took the first position.

Five records were improved on the first day and six on the final day.

100m breaststroke (Under-15): Sikandar Khan (Lahore) one minute 20.19 sec (New Record, previous record of 1:20.26 held by Abdul Aziz of Lahore at Sahiwal in July 2001), Syed Mustafa Shah (Lahore), Zeeshan (Faisalabad).

100m breaststroke (Under-18): Abdul Aziz (Lahore) 1:20.82 sec, Tanveer Ahmed (Jhang), Zeeshan Razi (Lahore).

100m backstroke (Under-15): Syed Mustafa Shah (Lahore) 1:16.32 (NR, previous record of 1:16.84 sec held by Faraz Samad of Faisalabad in July 1998 at Lahore), Salman Khan (Lahore), Mubashir Bajwa (Jhang).

100m backstroke (Under-18): Zeeshan Rabi Khan (Lahore) 1:18.81 sec, Atif Shafique Bhatti (Faisalabad), Shameem Ahmad (Jhang).

50m butterfly (Under-15): Sikandar Khan (Lahore) 00:30.68 sec (NR , previous record not mentioned), Syed Mustafa Shah (lahore), Azeem (Fsd). 50m butterfly (Under-18): Atif Shafique Bhatti (FSd) 00:32.55 sec, Rahim Waqar (Lahore), Usman Javaid (Lahore).

25m butterfly (Under-12): Shahbaz Khan (Lahore) and Yahya Shahid (Faisalabad) joint winners, 00.17.07 each, Arsalan (Bahawalpur), Usama Tahir (FSD).

4x50m freestyle (Under-12): Faisalabad, 2:30.20 sec, Bahawalpur, Jhang. 100m freestyle (Under-15): Sikandar Khan (Lahore) 1:02.95 sec (NR, previous record 1:9.77 held by Sikandar Khan of Lahore in July 2001 at Sahiwal), Shan Lashari (Lahore), Naveed Ahmad (Jhang).

100m freestyle (Under-18): Rahim Waqar (Lahore) 1:06.77, Usman Javaid (Lahore), Shamim Ahmad (Jhang).

50m freestyle (Under-10): Qasim Ali (Lahore) 00:40.26, Bilal Asghar (Faisalabad), Anas (Faisalabad).

50m backstroke (Under-12): Mohammad Arslan (Bahawalpur), 00:41.26, Usman Atique (Faisalabad), Shahbaz Khan (Lahore).

200m individual medley (Under-15): Sikandar Khan (Lahore) 2:39.45, Syed Mustafa Shah (Lahore), Muhammad Zeeshan.

200m individual medley (Under-18): Usman Javaid (Lahore) 2:49.26 (NR, previous record is not mentioned), Zeeshan Rabi Khan (Lahore), Shameem Ahmad (Jhang).

4x100m freestyle (Under-15): Lahore, 4:53.56 (NR, previous record not mentioned), Faisalabad, Bahawalpur.
