RCB launches drive against water tariff defaulters

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Sept 3: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has launched a campaign against water tariff defaulters, official sources told Dawn.

“The connections of all the defaulters are being disconnected and will not be restored unless the arrears are paid,” the RCB director of water supply, Col Abdur Rehman, said.

He said the campaign had been started from the posh area of Chaklala-3. He said Rs1.6 million were outstanding against the defaulters of Chaklala-3 alone.

At least 12 connections have been disconnected so far, he said.

It is learnt that the illegal water connections are also being cut off. An official said there were thousands of illegal connections in the cantonment area. Meanwhile, water level in the Rawal Dam and Khanpur Dam has improved after the recent rains, the official said.
