GUJRANWALA, Sept 3: Aspirants of political and religious parties, including PPP and PML-N, filed their appeals before the election tribunal here on Tuesday.

The returning officers had also rejected nomination papers of PPP’s Khawaja Saleh and his brother Khawaja Tanvir for NA-96 and former mayor Ghulam Qadir Khan, the younger brother of PML-N former MNA Ghulam Dastagir Khan, for NA-95.

Meanwhile, the local Allied Bank administration also moved the election tribunal for the rejection of papers of PML-N former MPA S.A Hameed for PP-93 for being a defaulter.

The RO accepted the nomination papers of Mr Hameed when he pleaded that he was not the bank defaulter while his appeal was pending with the Lahore High Court.

Scores of aspirants also filed appeals before the election tribunal for the rejection of nomination papers of their rivals along with solid proofs.
