50,000 jobs by next month: Maqbool

SARGODHA, Sept 3: The government is striving hard to eradicate corruption from society besides provision of jobs to youth purely on merit.

This was stated here on Tuesday by Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool at a gathering of people from different walks of life at the Circuit House.

He said the Punjab government would provide jobs to 50,000 youth by the end of October.

He said 30,000 teachers would be recruited within two months.

He said stern action against the culprits was taken who subjected women and children to violence.

Governor Maqbool said Rs8 billion had been earmarked for brick lining of canals and drains, including Dhori, Sobhaga, Mari and Ludewala. After the completion of these projects, seepage of water could be controlled.

He sought the help of feudals and philanthropists to set up a university at Sargodha. The governor directed the district government to prepare feasibility in this regard.

Responding to the governor’s call, Neelibar Group of Industries chairman announced a donation of Rs10 million.

Maqbool also promised that during the next month Sial interchange near Sargodha on the Lahore-Islamabad motorway would be constructed soon and assured that the Punjab government would provide the entire amount of Rs320 million for the construction and widening of Shahpur-Bhera road.

The governor claimed that homeless and landless people were given proprietary rights. He said Rs2.84 billion were given to 120,000 deserving people for their permanent rehabilitation.

Later, he distributed appointment orders among 105 newly recruited police constables, 34 patwaris and 1,300 teachers, and allotment letters to residents of kutcha abadis.

The governor inaugurated the first phase of widening and renovation of Kandiwal road which would be completed at a cost of Rs18 million. The entire project would be completed at a cost of Rs40 million.

He said a neurosurgeon and a lady doctor would be posted at the Sargodha DHQ hospital and Sillanwali.

The governor later met the PML(QA) candidates. He said the government was not patronizing any political party and it would ensure free, fair and transparent elections.
