KARACHI: Work on Gwadar project in full swing

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 3: Work on the Gwadar deep-sea port and the Coastal Highway linking the port city with Karachi is in full swing and will be completed ahead of schedule.

This was stated here by the Nazim of Gwadar District, Baboo Gulab, while talking to Dawn here on Tuesday.

According to him, Gwadar has recently attracted enormous interest because of the major development activities taking place in the port town of Mekran.

He said it was for the first time in the history of the province that the government was taking an interest in development activities.

The nazim said that the present government had already undertaken work on some major projects including the Gwadar deep-sea project, the Mekran Coastal Highway, Mirani Dam, Kachi canal and the Quetta water supply management scheme.

The Governor of Balochistan, Amirul Mulk Mengal, will visit the port city on Wednesday, Sept 4, to review the pace of these development projects, he added.

He further stated that both the federal and provincial governments attached great importance to these projects, and were keenly interested that these projects should be completed on time.
