Mirpurkhas emerge champions

HYDERABAD, Aug 30: Mirpurkhas has become new Sindh karate championship after securing three gold medals while Karachi and Hyderabad finished second and third in the recently concluded First G.M. Qureshi Advocate Memorial Sindh Karate Championships 2002, held at Dragon Karate Centre, Shahdadpur, district Sanghar.

A total of ten districts of Sindh including Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Dadu, Mithi, Naushero Feroze, Nawabshah, Larkana and two teams of Sanghar took part in the championship which was organised by the Sindh Karate Association.

The district teams have participated in five categories of individual kumite and individual kata disciplines.

Final results:

Below 50 kg individual kumite: Rashid Ali Qureshi, Sanghar Green, gold medal, Abdul Raheem, Karachi, silver medal and Sajan Kumar, Sanghar White, bronze medal.

Below 55 kg individual kumite: Muhammed Kamran, Mirpurkhas, gold medal, Ajay Kumar, Hyderabad, silver medal and Aijaz Ali, Dadu, bronze medal.

Below 60 kg individual kumite: Majid Ali, Mirpurkhas, gold medal, Riyasat Ali, Karachi, silver medal and Shafique Shaikh, Dadu, bronze medal.

Below 65 kg individual kumite: -Muhammed Ramzan Ali, Karachi gold medal, Faisal Baloch, Hyderabad, silver medal and Ali Akhtar, Dadu, bronze medal.

Above 65 kg individual kumite: Adam Khan, Mirpurkhas, gold medal, Muhammed Abbas, Nawabshah, silver medal and Syed Amir Ali, Karachi, bronze medal.

Individual Kata: Muhammed Asif, Hyderabad, gold medal, Izhar Hasan, Dadu, silver medal and Muhammed Ramzan Ali, Karachi, bronze medal.
