Kenya’s Modi ruled out

NAIROBI, Aug 30: Kenya’s middle order batsman Hitesh Modi has been ruled out of his team’s second triangular one-day international against Pakistan Sunday.

Kenya coach Sandip Patil said Modi broke the middle finger on his right hand during the first match of the tournament on Thursday, which Pakistan won by four wickets.

“He is definitely out of the Sunday match but we shall review his case Sunday evening if he can play against Australia Monday,” Patil told Reuters after the team’s nets Friday.

The 31-year-old left-hander broke his finger when he was hit by a ball from Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar. He scored 34 runs of Kenya’s total of 133 in 30.3 overs. Modi’s highest one- day score was 78 not out against Sri Lanka in 1996.—Reuters
