PESHAWAR, Aug 30: The Pakistan People’s Party has advised its workers, who got angry over the electoral alliance with the Awami National Party in Peshawar district, to accept party decision and not to make any controversial statement on the issue.

PPP provincial president Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti advised the estranged party workers to make the PPP-ANP electoral alliance a success in the upcoming elections by voting the joint candidates.

Mr Hoti said the People’s Party (Parliamentarian) had endorsed the electoral adjustment with the ANP. It was an alliance between the two liberal and secular forces, which was the need of hour, he added.

He said he was ready to discuss the merits of this adjustment with the angry workers, who had made a controversy out of it. The ground realities were in favour of this seat-to-seat adjustment, Mr Hoti added.

He appealed to the workers to foil the designs of opportunists, who wanted to sabotage the alliance in the name of principles and making a way for the success of retrogressive forces.

Mr Hoti urged them to abide by party discipline and accept the electoral alliance, also endorsed by PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto and other party leaders. He advised them to work for the success of the joint candidates.

Our correspondents from Mardan adds: The Returning Officer for PF-24, declared Mr Hoti’s nomination papers valid and put an end to the rumours about the educational qualification of Mr Hoti.

Mr Hoti had obtained his Masters Degree in Mass Communication from University of Jamshoro, Sindh.
