Radcliffe asks IAAF to take random tests
LONDON, Aug 28: European 10,000 metres champion Paula Radcliffe has asked the IAAF to conduct random tests on her and to freeze her blood samples for future testing following media scepticism over her performances this year.
Radcliffe, who ran the second fastest women’s 10,000 metres in history with her time of 30 minutes 01.09 seconds at the European championships, was responding to an article in French magazine L’Equipe questioning her performance in Munich earlier this month.
“Although the most important thing is that I, and those close to me, know I am clean, I was still deeply hurt and offended to read an article in L’Equipe magazine casting doubt on my achievements and those of others in Munich,” the Briton said Wednesday.
“Since reading the article...I have asked the IAAF to conduct random blood and urine tests on me in the build up to (the) Chicago (Marathon) and at the competition itself.”—Reuters
