PPP, PML agree on seats adjustment

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, Aug 28: The local leaders of PML(N) and PPP have agreed on seat adjustment for the two national assembly and six provincial assembly seats of Swabi.

The People’s Lawyer Forum district president and a candidate on PF-31, Swabi-1, Javed Iqbal Inqilabi, told Dawn on Wednesday that the local leadership of the two parties, after four-hour talks, reached an agreement on seat adjustment in the district.

PML(N) sources said that extensive talks were held between the two parties on adjustment formula as some PML(N) members were not ready to give up the contest. However, the district leadership convinced them on this score, they added.

The talks were held at the residence of PML(N) district president and a candidate for NA-13, Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, on Tuesday.

The PML(N) leaders said the two sides had agreed to withdraw their candidates in favour of each other to contest the coming elections.
