KARACHI: Winners of scholarships get formal letters
KARACHI, Aug 20: British deputy high commissioner in Karachi, David Pearey, on Tuesday presented formal letters to 13 scholars from Sindh and Balochistan as part of the pre-departure briefing organized by the British Council.
These scholars will be leaving next month to attend one-year master’s programme at various universities in Britain. All are fully-funded scholarship holders.
In all, 17 scholarships were awarded throughout Pakistan this year, a spokesperson of the British Council said here on Tuesday. Acting director of the British Council Pakistan, Charlie Walker, was also present at the ceremony.
It was pointed out that British Chevening scholarships, the most popular of all scholarships in Pakistan attracting thousands of applicants every year, were widely advertised and open to all.
The scholars selected from Sindh and Balochistan are Adil Aziz Ahmed Khan, Ashfaq Ahmed Tunio, Fahimeh Fifi Haroon, Farhat Ali Khan Junejo, Fauzia Kehar, Haseebuddin Babar, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Lubna Ayub Asif, Moeed H. Pirzada, Naziha Syed Ali, Dr Najeeb Khalid, Raheela Idrees and Waqas Muslim.—APP
