KOHAT, Aug 17: The newly-elected city town council in its maiden session held in the municipal hall on Friday rejected the budget passed by the district assembly and demanded separate funds for the town Nazim.

The session which was presided over by the speaker of the town council, Sarfaraz Khan, also passed various resolutions demanding official vehicles for the members, one bank for withdrawal of money and salaries.

Mr Khan said that the budget allocations for various schemes approved by the district assembly lacked the consent of the town council therefore they should be given the right to have their own budget.

The session was attended by all the Nib Nazimeen of the 17 union councils of the city who unanimously passed the resolutions. They regretted that more than 70 per cent of the district budget was spent on telephone bills and POL which was an injustice with the people.
