Success for Candyland


KARACHI, Aug 15: Candyland with 80 Victory Points (VP) claimed the Karachi Bridge Association Independence Day bridge which concluded Wednesday.

In absence of Ziaullah Baig, Hamid Mohiuddin partnered A.K. Bhurgari, while other regular pair of Hasan Askari-Khalid Mohiuddin netted wining swings to score 80 VP for the prime spot.

Candyland first defeated last Sunday’s winning team, Akber 22-08, and then defeated Jamal 19-11. In the third round they faced PSO, and won 23-8.

Since PSO, fell victim to their own aggression. In the last encounter Mazhar extended them fully, but they managed a three IMP victory.

Mazhar with 76 VP finished. Mazhar comprising Mazhar Ali Khan, Shoaib Khan, Saleem Ahmed and celebrated Pervaiz Mirza lost first round match to Aces sharing 30 points equally, then defeating Four Bidders 23-7 Mazhar added maximum 25 against Ozair and went down fighting 14-16 to Candyland.

Four Bidders finished third with a score of 71 VP. They had a draw in the opener from Ozair, then lost to Mazhar 8-22, Four Bidders comprising S.M. Zakaria, Zafar Zaki, Chaudhry Sharif and Syed Ameer Hasan then faced Aces to register a convincing 23-7 win and in the last match managed maximum 25 V.P. outwitting Attackers to occupy third berth.—APP
