Rockets hit US base in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 13: Three rockets were fired at a US base in the eastern Afghan city of Khost but caused no casualties, the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) reported on Tuesday.

The news agency said the rockets landed at the Khost airport on Monday night. It did not say if the attack caused any damage to the facility.

US aircraft flew over the area after the attack, but no there was no report of any retaliatory action, AIP said, quoting Khost residents.

US troops are based at Khost airport and the base has come under sporadic rocket strikes since the US-led coalition launched operations in eastern Afghanistan to hunt down Taliban and Al Qaeda fugitives.—AFP
