LAHORE, Aug 12: The Labour Party Pakistan will nominate progressive candidates to contest October elections against the parties representing feudal lords, capitalists and religious sects, LPP secretary general Farooq Tariq said on Monday.

In a statement issued here Mr Tariq said a preliminary list of candidates for contesting the general elections had already been prepared. All members regularly paying the party subscription, he said, were eligible for the party ticket.

He said the party would demand no donation from the candidates for the award of tickets. Instead, those lacking campaign funds would be helped from subscription proceeds.

He said the party had submitted an application to the Election Commission for allotment of saw as its election symbol.
