DADU, Aug 12: The Pakistan People’s Party president, Dadu district, Rafique Ahmed Jamali, has alleged that the federal government constructing an anti-Sindh project, the greater Thal canal, which would destroy the agriculture of the province.
Speaking at the press club here on Sunday, he said that due to the shortage of irrigation water in Sindh, thousands of acres of land had been rendered barren while the Kachho, Kohistan and Thar areas had already been facing a drought-like situation since the last many years.
The PPP district general secretary, Dost Ali Jessar, said that the government was pressuring PPP leaders to change their loyalties, arrested many party leaders and had registered fake cases of corruption against them.
He alleged that the district administration was supporting anti-PPP forces as the town police had registered fake cases against 22 SPSF activists.
He pointed out that the district administration, Dadu, was establishing polling stations in the native villages of anti-PPP leaders and was neglecting other areas.
He appealed to the Chief Election Commissioner to take notice of the local officials of Dadu district.

BOYCOTT: The lower staff of the district education department on Monday boycotted their work in the offices, schools and colleges in Dadu, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Mehar, Sehwan, and Johi to protest against the non-payment of their salaries.
A large number of teachers and lower staff staged a demonstration in front of the Dadu Press Club against the district officials education department.
