PESHAWAR, Aug 6: The Water and Power Development Authority has announced that electricity supply to the domestic consumers in parts of Khyber, Mohmand and Bajaur agencies of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas would be disconnected after Aug 10 if the political administration of these areas failed to honour their commitment towards Wapda’s meter installation campaign in Fata.
In a press release issued here on Tuesday, a Wapda spokesman took the stand that despite repeated assurances given by the political administration of Khyber, Mohmand and Bajaur agencies, the authority’s meter installation campaign was facing resistance from domestic consumers at some parts of these three agencies.
“Though the meter installation campaign — individual and bulk supply meters — is going on at a fast speed in Fata, there are certain pockets in the Khyber, Mohmand and Bajaur agencies where Wapda is facing resistance at the hands of tribesmen,” the press release said.
It added that Wapda had provided them lists of power consumers.
