KARACHI: KU employees association protest today

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 5: The Karachi University Employees Welfare Association has expressed dissatisfaction over the working of the varsity administration, and has decided to join a protest walk being arranged by teachers on August 6 on the campus.

A general body meeting of the association was held on Monday outside the arts auditorium. Originally, the association had planned to hold the meeting in the auditorium, but it failed to do so as the varsity administration did not accord permission for the purpose.

In the face of threats of disciplinary and legal action by the administration, which sees every activity by the university population as a political act, the meeting of employees could be termed as an impressive show, said a senior varsity official.

The meeting, which was addressed by its office bearers including President Mohammad Arif and General Secretary Jalees Ahmad Qazi, demanded the withdrawal of termination orders, transfer orders and demotion orders for employees as according to it, those were issued without proper observance of university rules and regulations.
