10 killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Aug 4: Ten people, including seven identified by the Indian army as Mujahideen, were killed in occupied Kashmir during a 24-hour period beginning Saturday midnight.

A police spokesman claimed Indian forces had shot dead four freedom fighters near the Line of Control.

Elsewhere three Mujahideen, two Indian soldiers and a civilian were killed in gunbattles across the held state since Saturday evening, police said. More than 33,000 people have been killed since the freedom movement started in occupied Kashmir at the end of 1989.—Reuters
