LAHORE, Aug 4: A high-level Pakistan Muslim League delegation met the Jamaat-i-Islami leaders here on Sunday to explore the possibility of electoral cooperation.

The JI leaders told the PML team any decision on the subject would be taken by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, of which the JI is a constituent. Heads of the MMA components are scheduled to meet here on Tuesday.

The PML delegation comprised Sirdar Zulfiqar Khosa, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Sardar Yaqub Nasir, Tehmina Daultana, Ijaz Shafi, Akram Zaki and Rafiq Rajwana.

The JI was represented by Qazi Husain Ahmad, Syed Munawwar Hasan, Liaquat Baloch and Prof Ghafoor Ahmad.

The PML team told the Jamaat that the former was quite serious about contesting the October elections and the change of leadership had been effected to evade potential obstacles.

Tehmina: Pakistan Muslim League leader Tehmina Daultana called on Alliance for Restoration of Democracy president Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan here on Sunday to assure him that her party would stay in the ARD despite the change of leadership.

She said the election of Mian Shahbaz Sharif was a matter internal to the party and would not affect its affiliation with the alliance.
